Per Local histories.org “Dublin was founded by the Vikings. They founded a new town on the south bank of the Liffey in 841. It was called Dubh Linn, which means black pool. The new town of Dublin was fortified with a ditch and an earth rampart with a wooden palisade on top.”
Per wiki “The City of Dublin can trace its origin back more than 1,000 years, and for much of this time it has been Ireland’s principal city and the cultural, educational and industrial centre of the island.”

Dublin has changed quite a bit since my last visit in 2013. here are more foreign speakers here than English 

The cute areas are now giant mall in city center.  You wouldn’t recognize the city at all…. so many other countries shops and restaurants now… 

The Irish people don’t look like those amazing people we met 9 years ago.

Ireland has also taken in thousands of Ukrainian refugees.  The government is paying for them to stay in hotels.  Which has caused tourists to pay more due to lack of capacity!  They are doing their part to help.

Howth has been settled since prehistoric times, and features in Irish mythology. Very nice little town, quite posh!!!  Nice break away from the hustle and bustle of Dublin!

Ireland is still one of those places that keeps you going back.  Most people are very friendly and the countryside is just stunning!  

Next visit will be Galway (West Coast)…  Will be back Emerald Isle – See you next year!
