Ghent, Belgium
The city originally started as a settlement at the confluence of the Rivers Scheldt and Leie and in the Late Middle Ages became one of the largest and richest cities of northern Europe, with some 50,000 people in 1300.
We arrive into Ghent via train! We notice that everyone bikes! We see the bike parking lot by the station!
On thing we notice is that you can’t get food after 930pm or so, but you can sit and get drinks till late!
This was a walking food tour. First we stop to get a donut from the oldest bakery in town. Surprisingly it tasted more like bread than a donut! Then we stop to get some cheese ham fresh strong mustard and of course some beer! Great combination of food with a local beer!
Of course Chocolate is a must in Belgium
We go to Leonides… still family owned /since world Expo in 1913! We loved it so bought a bunch to take back to London and Dallas..
We then stop at a plant based restaurant to try some chili and natural wine! Wine was great…. food was a little too healthy for me/ LOL
You can’t do a food tour in Belgium without trying a waffle! That is our last stop! Great food tour!
There was a street that is graffiti street!
Thank you to Sophie!
